In use for almost a year by middle schooler!,   
The JanSport Classic Big Student backpack is very sturdy and has been in daily, school day use for almost a year. We have a very hard time making a binder last for more than a few months. This backpack has survived much rough treatment and it still looks pretty good...

Pronounced roomy   
Our teenaged son rides his bike a LOT and loves this backpack. He especially likes that the patterns are "pretty cool" and "not lame" like other packs we've had. It's also roomy enough to hold all of his school books so that he doesn't have to visit his locker as often at school -- a real bonus in that giant building -- but the S-shaped straps make it easier on his shoulders than a bag with regular straps. : 2010-08-10 02:02:32

I stole my sisters old Jansport backpack in high school and it lasted me into my early years of college when I was gifted with a new bag. I'm in grad school now and none of my current bags can withstand the book load and not strain a shoulder or neck. I finally gave in and shopped around and found the prices and the lifetime guarantee unbeatable. I can carry everything I need and then some. The divided pockets let me take gym gear and text books and the side water bottle pocket easily houses my Sig, freeing up my hands when traversing across campus. GREAT backpack for my 7th grader!!!!   
This backpack is the BEST one I have purchassed to date! My son is in mid. school and they do not have lockers. EVERYTHING goes in his backpack it weighs 30-50 pds. at least every day. I was buying a backpack for him every 3-5 mths because the zipper broke or straps or whatever. He has had this about 7 mths and I must say it is in the same shape as when I got it in the mail (well it is dirty full of old gum rappers etc...) I am VERY impressed with it and IF or WHEN it does break I will buy it again for him for sure!!!!! I did see some rewiews about the straps being stiff and hurting. I personal thought they were stiff/hard but my son NEVER said a word about it. This is the only negitive thing I can say about it but he has no bad stuff to say and that is all that matters, it is his!!!! Oh it also hold TONS of stuff!!! Great backpack   
I am very happy with my purchase of this backpack. The color is great, and it has plenty of compartments but not so many that you don't know what to put in them. I especially like the mesh holder on the side, I put my water bottle in there so I don't have to carry it around. I'm a graduate student so I have a lot of materials I have to lug around, and this backpack is perfect for it. The straps are very sturdy and don't cut into my shoulders.
